چکیده

A high number of infections from year to require infectious diseases get serious attention. The antimicrobial compound exploration must be continued anticipate the development diseases. purpose this study was find out in vitro activity n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and ethanol fractions Piper betle green leaves against S. aureus , profiles secondary metabolite compounds contained these three extracts. test carried by disk diffusion fraction at a concentration 6,25, 12,5, 18,75 µg/disk. Detection content done Thin Layer Chromatography method with stain-view reagents. highest found acetate significantly different n-hexane fractions. However, antibacterial all lower compared positive control amoxiclav 30µg/disk. phytochemical screening results metabolites each were shown that alkaloids, terpenoids, flavonoids, polyphenols, anthraquinone; while anthraquinone. Based on results, it is concluded leaf extract had activity; meanwhile, activities among others. Each proven have composition metabolites.

Antimalarial activity of methanolic leaf extract of Piper betle L.

The need for new compounds active against malaria parasites is made more urgent by the rapid spread of drug-resistance to available antimalarial drugs. The crude methanol extract of Piper betle leaves (50-400 mg/kg) was investigated for its antimalarial activity against Plasmodium berghei (NK65) during early and established infections. The phytochemical and antioxidant potentials of the crude e...

Inhibitory effect of Piper betle Linn. leaf extract on protein glycation--quantification and characterization of the antiglycation components.

Piper betle Linn. is a Pan-Asiatic plant having several beneficial properties. Protein glycation and advanced glycation end products (AGEs) formation are associated with different pathophysiological conditions, including diabetes mellitus. Our study aims to find the effect of methanolic extract of P. betle leaves on in vitro protein glycation in bovine serum albumin (BSA)-glucose model. The ext...

Antioxidant properties and Glutathione S-transferases inhibitory activity of Alchornea cordifolia leaf extract in Acetaminophen toxicity

Paracetamol (acetaminophen, PCM) is a widely used over-the-counter analgesic and antipyretic drug. Intake of a large dose of PCM may result in severe hepatic necrosis. Oxidative stress is mediated by oxidative capacities of the PCM metabolite (N-acetyl-para-benzo quinoneimine, NAPQI), which covalently binds to proteins and other macromolecules to cause cellular damage. At low doses, NAPQI is ...
